Best Practices for Video Recording:

Camera:
- Please use the best camera/smart phone camera that you have available on the highest quality setting.

Lighting:
- Make sure your location is brightly and evenly lit. Natural lighting is best, try to film near a window or outdoors as long as it is not too bright.
- Avoid high contrast with bright and dark spots. Avoid sunbeams and harsh shadows. Try to film where the lighting is consistent.
-The main light source should be shining on your face. Some back-lighting is nice, but too much can create a silhouette effect.

Sound:
- Use the built-in microphone will probably work fine, but if you have an external microphone you can use with the headphone jack or USB it may help the quality. Test your options in advance to see which one sounds better on your device.
- Film in a quiet location, without a lot of background noise.

Background and Framing:
- Film horizontally, not vertically.
- Zooming in reduces the quality. Physically move closer to the camera instead.
- Make sure your background is how you want it. Avoid clutter behind you, the simpler the background the better.
- Make sure that background plants or poles or other objects don’t look like they’re sticking out of your head.
-You should be centered, with your eyes and face roughly 2/3 up the screen.

Wardrobe:

- Please wear a piece of your uniform.
- Solid, rich colors generally work best on camera.
- Avoid shiny material, bold patterns, or busy stripes.
